Kippenross House enjoys a secluded and beautiful setting near Bridge of Allan and Dunblane. Dating from 1750 the house is attributed to William Adam. The park in which the house is set was designed in 1791 by the influential Scottish landscape architect Thomas White. His design is an example of a classical romantic approach to the setting of a country house in 'natural' parkland. Kippenross was the birthplace of Jane Stirling who became a devoted pupil of Chopin in Paris during the 1840s. Chopin dedicated two nocturnes to her and visited the house when she accompanied him on his tour of Scotland. Robert Louis Stevenson often walked in the parkland whilst writing Kidnapped.
